Saṃsāra:
The Re-birth

“And just like that, I realized how small the world was. I was beginning to gain control over my life again. Everyday things are now extraordinary. I can touch, see, taste, hear and smell everything again as if my senses have been newly installed. As if I, as a whole, was reborn into this world of opportunity.”

“Saṃsāra : The Rebirth” is a series of photographs that is explained in a form of a visual ballad portraying the reawakening of the five senses: touch, see, smell, hear and taste.

The photographs in this series are intentionally chosen to be monochrome and the light and shadow plays an important role in showing the perfect transition to the re-birth of each sense. The series begins with pictures where a hand is reaching out to grasp the sun which symbolizes the energy of rejuvenation and further portrays how this energy is getting absorbed in the whole body. The series finally concludes with the complete rejuvenation of all the senses back to life again.

A monochrome picture is always timeless. Playing with light and shadow in my photographs has always been my keen interest which I intended to reflect in each frame. I like to keep my methodology consistent while using a variety of materials and subjects. Photographs being an intangible thing express the most tangible senses in this series.

I try to show the unknown and untold stories, the moments, the memories in my photographs. I always seek to capture people, gestures and objects in my frames to preserve the small things that people often miss out on. I like to inspire those who see my photographs to look more meticulously at the things around them, to go into the details, to realize the beauty in everyday things. We all live with this beauty around us, but how many of us really notice it?

As an artist I intend to capture pictures that are self-expressive and tell a story to the viewing audience. In every shot I take, I click it in such a way that the viewer feels to be in the real time when the picture was captured. For me letting things or figures be in their most natural form in a frame is very important because I believe in that way we can capture a moment and preserve it with us forever. I aim to capture the reality in frames in their rawest form possible. My photography evokes the passage of time.
